TrueCoach is the tool you pick when you want to write a program, send it, and get out of the way. The workout builder is quick, the client side is uncluttered, and video form-checks plus in-app messaging cover most of what a remote 1:1 coach does every day. Automated client payments come with every plan, but TrueCoach Payments takes a flat 5% of each card payment, more than most rivals charge.

What you give up is just as clear: there is no AI programming, "custom branding" means a themed web app rather than your own listing in the App Store, and pricing climbs in steps as your roster grows. For a coach with 6–20 clients it lands at $69.98/mo; at 21–50 clients it is $164.98/mo. Above 50 clients you need a custom quote.

• Remote 1:1 coaches

  who program individually and review lifts on video — the messaging thread accepts photos, videos and GIFs, and clients can comment on a specific exercise.

• Coaches who hate admin

  Recurring and one-time payments run inside the app (US, UK, Canada and Australia), so there is no separate billing tool to pay for.

• Hybrid trainers

  who want clients logging nutrition in MyFitnessPal and habits in the same calendar as their workouts.

It is a weaker fit if you want a fully branded app, AI-generated programs, group classes and bookings, or a price that stays flat as you grow. Those coaches usually end up on PT Distinction, My PT Hub or Trainerize.

TrueCoach charges by active clients, in three published tiers. Every tier includes the same core toolkit; Standard and Pro add custom theming, wearables data, advanced habit and nutrition tracking, Zapier automations and a public coach profile. Annual billing is worth 1 month free on Starter and 2 months free on Standard and Pro.

If you have seen TrueCoach quoted at $19.99/mo, that figure is out of date: on October 16, 2026 the official pricing page lists Starter at $29.98 billed monthly, or $26.34/mo billed annually. The contract is month-to-month by default, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time (it applies from the next billing cycle), and first-time annual subscribers get a 90-day money-back guarantee (restrictions apply).

• Program builder

  with drag-and-drop blocks, reusable templates and a library of 3,000+ exercise videos (you can add your own).

• Client tracking

  Custom metrics, progress graphs, exercise history and a notepad for goals, equipment access and nutrition.

• Nutrition and habits

  via the MyFitnessPal integration (calorie and macro targets) plus custom daily, weekly or monthly habits.

• Wearables

  (Standard and Pro): Apple Health/Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, Oura and others.

• Automations

  through Zapier. The plan cards list it from Standard, while the feature list labels it Pro-only — confirm during the trial if it matters to you.

• Public coach profile

  (new) to showcase your services and collect leads.

TrueCoach markets a "custom-branded fitness app" on Standard and Pro. In practice that means your logo in the header of client emails and the client web app, a custom subdomain (yourname.truecoach.co) and eight color themes. Your clients still download the TrueCoach app from the store.

TrueCoach Payments (powered by Stripe) handles recurring subscriptions and one-time program sales, can pause or prorate a client, and sends payment notifications, with no add-on to buy on any plan. The catch is the rate: TrueCoach’s help center lists a flat 5% fee on every card transaction, charged on the invoice total (taxes included), and refunds are charged at the same rate. Chargebacks cost $15 each. That is well above Stripe’s standard US rate of about 2.9% + $0.30, even though the pricing page FAQ answers "Are there any extra fees?" with a no. Payments are available to coaches in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and the app is free for clients.

So the true monthly cost is the tier price plus 5% of everything you collect: with 20 clients paying $150 a month ($3,000), that is $150 in fees, about $57 more than standard Stripe processing would cost. Plug your own roster and volume into the calculator below the pricing table to see the total.
